- Direct Entry: An applicant, having a bachelors degree (SLQL 6 or above) or an equivalent degree from a recognized degree awarding institution or having a professional qualification equivalent to SLQF level 6 or above or having completed NVQ level 7 with a minimum of GPA of 3 on scale of 0-4, may be considered for admission by the academic committee (Board) for the programme conducted by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.
- Lateral Entry: An applicant, having completed the Diploma/ Postgtraduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety conducted by the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo wishes to enroll for the masters programme in Occupational Health and Safety, he/she will be eligible to enroll for the said programme only if the applicant has a basic degree (SLQL 5 or above) from a recognized degree awarding institution.

- Based on two structured written/ practical examinations, each of three hours duration at the end of the course and assignment given during the course.

- End of Course Examination:
- Theory: 40%
- Structured Practical:30%
- In order to pass the examination, the candidate should obtain a minimum of 40% in each component of the evaluation and an aggregate mark of 50.
