At the completion of this course the participants will be able to,

• Explain the principles of Cross-border Healthcare and be able to apply them in their work settings, startup business or develop their tourism business to next level.
• Identify world medical tourism industry market, unique modules developed by various countries with their health care facilities
• Maintain the expected standards of Cross-border Healthcare and accreditations.
• Identify procedures and practices in business and work settings that that promote business and services as well as risk
• Implement behaviour change strategies on implementing Cross-border Healthcare and evaluate the outcome
• Recognize world Cross-border Healthcare opportunities and startup Cross-border Healthcare or research on niche where possible revenue generates in the country
• Discuss the implications of travel related infections and tropical diseases to Cross-border Healthcare
• Manage special situations such as outbreaks with the infection control team
• Establish, monitor and evaluate health tourism business
• Practice skills related to communication, team work inter-professional collaboration and engage in international health business
• Identify the latest developments in the field of health tourism
• Describe the background of practicing Cross-border Healthcare until nowadays;
• Discuss management and operational issues of the function of health tourism;
• Discuss the possibility of applying this field of study in our country

Candidates currently engage in health care and tourism industry will be eligible for the Diploma in Cross-border Healthcare.

A duly completed application form should be submitted with documentary evidence of qualifications and required experience. An objective marking scheme will be used for assessing the applications of candidates.

Blended mode

The Diploma in Cross-border Healthcare consists of 10 modules and the duration of each module will be 4 weeks. The main method of delivering this course will be by online learning, through self-learning material, guidelines/ circulars, video clips and recorded power point presentations. Module 10 will consist of workshops and demonstrations.

Continuous Assessment:

There will be an online assessment at the end of each module for all 10 modules. The online assessments will contribute 20% to the final mark.

End-of-programme Assessment:

There will be one MCQ question from each module with a total of 10 MCQ questions. These MCQs will contribute 20% to the final mark.

There will be one OSPE question from each module with a total of 10 OSPE questions. These OSPEs will contribute 30% to the final mark.

There will be only 2 SEQs for all the modules. These SEQs will contribute 30% to the final mark.

The candidates will need to obtain an overall mark of 50% from all the assessments to pass the examination. The candidates who are successful at the examination will be awarded the Diploma in Cross-border Healthcare by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.
