This unit is provides laboratory facilities which related animal research and also provides laboratory animal for several research inside the faculty and outside. The animal house have various species of laboratory animal cultures which are maintain in 24 hrs, standard operating procedures.

The animal house was established in 1950s. This is a most important unit by undertake, faculty of medicine university of Colombo as a separate section for use of scientific research experiments. From beginning of this unit provide laboratory animal subjects which related to Parasitological, Physiological and Bio chemical researches.
