Centre for Respiratory Medicine
Centre for Respiratory Medicine

Respiratory medicine, or pulmonology, is an expanding subspecialty in the medical field. Originally focused on tuberculosis treatment, it now encompasses the management of all respiratory system conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), various respiratory infections like bronchiectasis, lung abscess, pneumonia, both pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, sleep disorders, pulmonary hypertension, and pleural diseases, as well as the are of Interventional Pulmonology. The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened the focus on respiratory illnesses, making Respiratory Medicine a critical specialty across all healthcare levels.

Consequently, the Center for Respiratory Medicine (CRM) is being founded to provide a full spectrum of services. These services include training in respiratory medicine and associated disciplines at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels (MD and Diploma), serving medical researchers and the broader community.
