Department of Family Medicine – Academic

Contribution to MBBS

Department of Family Medicine is involved in carrying out student teaching and assessment activities under the Clinical Sciences Stream of the Faculty.  Undergraduate teaching of Family Medicine is embedded in the 3rd and 4th year clinical rotations, where the students have two weeks at the community Family Practice Clinic in Maradana and one week with the community General Practitioners. Students are also given the opportunity to visit the Outpatient Department at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and the Municipality clinic and the Maternal and Child Health Clinic, Kirula Road, Narahenpita as part of their clinical attachment

Elective Programme

The department provides elective opportunities for specific subject areas on short term basis under oversees elective program.
