World Hypertension Day 2023
A Health camp was conducted for the people of the area to screen for hypertension, renal disease, and diabetes. It was to commemorate the “World Hypertension Day 2023” at Rural Health Research Centre, Kataragama. This was organized by the Rural Health Research center, University of Colombo, Faculty of Medicine and Diabetes Endocrine Cardio-Renal Trust (DECRT).
The camp was successfully conducted with 108 participants from the Kataragama Divisional secretary area. In all participants, blood pressure, random blood sugar, body mass index (BMI), blood creatinine etc. were checked and in selected patients ECG was performed.
Prof. Prasad Katulanda, Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Colombo, Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Asela Anthony, Convener, RHRC-Kataragama, MOH of Kataragama and DMO of the Kataragama Divisional Hospital, staff of RHRC and DECRT and many other volunteers participated in this program.
