  • Launching of Research data base CCT

    The information portal (tobaccounmasked.lk) of the Sri Lankan tobacco observatory, the Centre for Combatting Tobacco (CCT) was launched by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo on 07th July 2017 at The Hotel Kingsbury, Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is now accessible to the public.

  • Pre Clinical Building 3rd Stage Opening
  • Flood Relief Campaign, Faculty of Medicine

    The flood relief campaign was organized by the Medical Faculty Students' Union & Medical Students' Welfare Society in collaboration with Core Group for Disaster Relief. The campaign was held from 29th to 31st May. With donations and funds the campaign managed to aid the people in affected areas of Idangoda, Heraniyawaka, Galtare. On the second stage the donations and collections were handed over to the Sr Lanka Army & to Sri lanka Red Cross Society to distribute those in the affected areas.

    Professor Senaka Rajapakse, Professor of Department of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo was awarded the CVCD Excellence Award – 2016, for the Most Outstanding Senior Researcher in Health Sciences, including Medicine, Dental Science, Veterinary Science and other Allied Sciences and Professor D.U.J. Sonnadara, Senior Professor and Chair of Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo was awarded the CVCD Excellence Award – 2016, for the Most Outstanding Senior Researcher in the field of Physical Sciences.

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, established in 1870 and considered the undisputed matriarch of medical education in Sri Lanka has been a leader in medical training and research not only in this country but also in Asia. Our teaching faculty in Colombo is comprised of some of the most accomplished, ambitious and dedicated scientists and medical professionals in Asia. Students always strive to grow and evolve and our faculty does provide them an innovative learning environment that imparts the refined skills of how to be compassionate and caring. This faculty is in the forefront of medical education and has central to its mission, a curriculum that melds the study of basic science, pathophysiology and mechanisms of disease and the clinical practice of medicine into a cohesive programme of learning.
