Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo Diploma and Certificate Awards Ceremony and Inauguration of Postgraduate and Continuous Development Programs, January 2024
The awards ceremony for Diploma and certificate programs in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo was held on the 14th of February 2024 in the Mini Auditorium 2, UCFM tower, under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne and the Dean Faculty of Medicine, Vidya jothi Senior Professor Vajira Dissanayaka, with the acting registrar and Bursar University of Colombo, Assistant Registrar, general administration and Assistant registrar Examinations, Faculty of Medicine, Chairperson and Convenor of the Faculty of Medicine Postgraduate Programs committee, and relevant Program Coordinators. Professor Priyanga Ranasinghe, an exceptional researcher in the Faculty of Medicine, delivered the key note address in which he shared his research experience and roadmap to building a good research career.
Certificates and Diplomas were awarded to 33 candidates successfully completing the following programs;
- Online diploma in disaster management (7)
- Diploma in occupational health and safety (1)
- Certificate Course in postgraduate research (18)
- Training Program in clinical genetics (7)
The awards ceremony was followed by the inauguration ceremony for the seven programs commencing in January 2024, namely;
- Master of Science in Molecular Pathology
- Postgraduate Diploma in gender and health
- Diploma in disaster management
- Certificate course in postgraduate research
- Certificate course in laboratory andrology
- Certificate course in Tuberculosis
- Training program in clinical genetics
Following the ceremony, the orientation programme actively engaged new postgraduate students in a hands-on training session on using the Learning Management System (LMS) and navigating the library’s research databases and resources.
