Training for Technical Officers from Bhutan at the PDRU laboratory on molecular identification of leishmaniasis
Two Bhutanese trainees Mr Dorji Tshering and Mr Rinchen Dorji from the Royal Centre for Disease Control (RCDC), Ministry of Health, Thimphu, Bhutan completed a training session on PCR and ELISA for detection of leishmaniasis at the Parasitic Diseases Research Unit (PDRU) laboratory, Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo during 23rd-29th of October 2022.
The second phase of this training session took place at the RCDC, Thimphu, Bhutan from 7th to 14th December 2022 with Prof. N. Karunaweera and Dr. R. Dewasurendra as resource persons. During this training session PCR and ELISA techniques were introduced to the lab staff at the RCDC in order to facilitate diagnosis of leishmaniasis in Bhutan.
